When I was in high school I dreamt up a plan of starting up a punk band (I'd be the vocalist) and calling ourselves "10 Foot Touque". Touque is the french Canadian word for ski beanie. Fifteen years have gone by (yikes!) and I'd totally forgotten about that dream, but my brother hadn't.
A few months ago, my bro sent me an e-mail telling me all about his plans to open a shop dedicated to kiteboarding, and asked me if he could name it 10 Foot Touque. I was more than stoked on that idea and gave him the green light with gusto!
So here it is: 10 Foot Touque, the coolest shop in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan!
My parents and the girls and I just came back from a trip up to P.A. to check it out. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is just awesome. My poor brother worked his butt off renovating the place, but did he ever do a stellar job. I didn't take pictures of the inside, but I did take a short video.
In support of my bro, I spent almost $1000 on clothes, shoes, hats, and a freakin' cool freebord for the hubby. I seriously could've spent a whole lot more, like a freebord for myself, but figured I'd wait until our next trip out to do that. I'm thinking we'll fly to Saskatoon and rent a mini van to drive up to P.A. next time, instead of driving the loooong, boring drive across the prairies like we just did. These Canadian prairies have their own particular charm to them, but I sure wouldn't want to live here again - brutally cold winters, no ocean or mountains... I'm perfectly happy living in Victoria, thank you very much.
So if you're looking for a fun, new water sport to try, or ever find yourself in the P.A. neighborhood, check out 10 Foot Touque, and tell the tall, skinny, handsome dude that Jenny sent ya!
