My cousin (one of 25), who takes awesome photos btw, requested a pair of slippers from me a few weeks ago. I immediately cast-on for a pair of Oma slippers. Our Grandmother (Oma) has been making these beauties for as long as we can all remember. I had the chance to sit down with her about a year and a half ago and have her walk me through the "pattern". Since her mother-tongue is German, she had a difficult time explaining the process to me in English, and she's never actually written any of it down, so I had to learn by watching and doing. I'm so glad I learned how to make these, and I have a feeling I'll get many more requests for them once our dear Oma passes away - she's 94 now and still going strong!
